AGM H6: Design

AGM H6 is the ideal choice for those who prioritize durability and resilience in their mobile devices. One of its main selling points is its robust build, evident in its impressive IP68 waterproof rating, IP69K resistance to dust and high-pressure water, and the ability to withstand shocks from drops of up to 1.8 meters.

Weighing in at 240 grams, the AGM H6 is slightly heavier than standard phones, which typically hover around the 200-gram mark. However, this extra weight is justified by the phone’s rugged construction and enhanced protective features. With a thickness of 10.75 mm, it manages to strike a balance between durability and a sleek design.

The design of the AGM smartphone reflects its commitment to toughness. The raised 0.4mm bezel around the screen provides additional protection, and reinforced corners, coupled with a lanyard hole at the top left, minimize the risk of damage from potential drops. The back cover, resembling a carbon-type material, is not only scratch-resistant but also fingerprint-resistant, maintaining a clean and practical appearance. The phone’s robust exterior is complemented by a practical coating that allows for easy cleaning with a wet cloth, ensuring it remains in top condition even after exposure to dirt or other elements.

In terms of aesthetics, the AGM H6 adopts a camera layout reminiscent of certain Xiaomi models, with a square arrangement housing various components such as the flash and multiple cameras.

The phone’s user interface includes thoughtful features such as closed plugs for all connectors, including the USB Type-C charging port, which can be easily opened with a fingernail. Additionally, the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top, also protected by a plug, offers convenience for users who prefer wired audio options.

The right side of the phone hosts the power button, which not only provides a precise click when turning the device on but also doubles as a fingerprint scanner for added security. Positioned above it is the volume control, offering tactile feedback with each click. On the opposite side, a distinctive bright yellow button adds a touch of flair to the design and can be customized in settings to provide quick access to a preferred app.

One noteworthy feature is the inclusion of a three-card slot, allowing users to insert two SIM cards and a TF Card with a capacity of up to 512GB. This provides ample storage options, with the internal storage already offering a generous 256GB. The flexibility of having both work and personal numbers on the same device, along with the expanded storage for images and work files, makes the AGM H6 a practical choice for a wide range of users.

Display

AGM H6 features a large 6.56-inch display. Boasting a 90 Hz refresh rate and HD Plus resolution, this IPS matrix display offers a smooth and responsive visual experience. The screen design is clean and elegant, with a slight curve and minimal bezels. The top features a neat waterdrop notch, adding to the overall aesthetics of the device.

The display is adorned with a thin frame and a subtle chin, creating a polished look. A factory-installed screen protector adds an extra layer of defense against scratches and daily wear. The three touch buttons on the screen provide convenient navigation, but for those who prefer a gesture-based approach, the AGM H6 allows users to switch to gesture control.

The AGM H6’s display settings provide users with flexibility, allowing adjustments for adaptive brightness, manual brightness control, screen lock duration, dark mode, font scale, and eye protection mode. The option to change color temperature and enhance contrast adds a layer of personalization to the viewing experience.

Performance

In terms of hardware, the AGM H6 is powered by a Unisoc Tiger T606 processor. Featuring eight cores, including energy-efficient Cortex A55 cores, and a Mali G57 video accelerator, this processor provides a balance between power and efficiency. The phone supports 3G and 4G connectivity, catering to users who require reliable and fast data access. However, it’s essential to note that 5G support is not included, reflecting a compromise to maintain affordability.

The device offers ample memory with an 8 GB RAM configuration, ensuring smooth multitasking and efficient performance. Storage-wise, the phone comes with 256 GB of internal memory, providing plenty of space for apps, files, and multimedia content. Additionally, the phone supports expandable storage via a TF Card up to 512 GB.

Attempting to play PUBG Mobile on the AGM H6 reveals some limitations due to its mid-range processor. The graphics settings are somewhat restricted, with the maximum achievable setting being high, and ultra or extreme HDR settings are unavailable.

It’s clear from the gaming experience that the AGM H6 is tailored more towards fulfilling basic needs such as calls, internet browsing, and messaging rather than being a dedicated gaming powerhouse. The graphics, while not flagship-level, are suitable for casual gaming, and the phone can handle less demanding games smoothly.

The AGM H6 places a strong emphasis on user customization. A unique yellow button on the left side of the phone adds a touch of personalization, allowing users to assign specific functions or open their preferred applications with a single click, double press, or long press. This feature, combined with the NFC module for contactless payments, adds convenience to the user experience.

Security features include a fingerprint scanner on the side of the phone, providing a quick and secure method of unlocking. The device also offers facial recognition, although it may take a bit longer compared to the swift fingerprint scanner.

Running on a clean and pure Android system – currently the thirteenth iteration – the AGM H6 promises a user-friendly experience. While it may lack a proprietary shell, the absence of bloatware ensures a streamlined and efficient performance. The phone’s 8 GB of RAM contributes to its snappy operation, making it responsive and capable of handling various tasks with ease.

The AGM H6 features a single non-stereo sound speaker, situated at the bottom on the bottom end. Despite its lack of stereo sound, the speaker delivers decent audio quality for its intended purpose.

Camera

Now, let’s delve into the camera capabilities of the AGM H6. This rugged smartphone boasts a robust camera setup, featuring a 50-megapixel main camera, an additional 2-megapixel macro camera, and an 8-megapixel front camera.

Switching immediately to the 50-megapixel main camera, a test photo is captured, revealing a clean and relatively clear image despite what appears to be overcast conditions. The detailing is commendable, with no pronounced noise in the photo. While specific details, especially fine print, may be challenging to discern, the overall quality is satisfactory for a smartphone in this category.

Moving on to video recording, the AGM H6 supports Full HD video recording at 30 frames per second from the front camera, providing decent video quality for day-to-day use. Additionally, the camera offers various modes, including slow motion, fast shooting, and a functional macro mode. The 2-megapixel macro camera proves to be effective, allowing users to capture detailed close-up shots.

For those who prefer a simpler method for capturing high-quality selfies, the suggestion is to use the main camera’s 50-megapixel resolution by turning the phone around and using the volume down button to snap a photo. This unconventional approach results in significantly improved photo quality compared to using the 8-megapixel front camera directly.

Battery life

The phone is equipped with a 4,900mAh battery, which, although slightly less than the typical 5,000mAh seen in many smartphones, holds its ground.

Despite its seemingly modest capacity, the AGM H6 is designed to deliver reliable performance throughout the day. The manufacturer claims that the phone can last for 24 hours of continuous calls and provide 7.5 hours of internet usage, emphasizing its practicality for everyday communication and connectivity needs.

In terms of performance, the AGM H6 doesn’t compromise on memory and storage. With 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, expandable via a microSD card, the phone offers ample space for apps, files, and media.
