NOMVDIC P2000: Design
The NOMVDIC P2000 boasts a distinctive body design, setting it apart as a unique ultra-short throw projector. Positioned just below the screen for optimal image projection, the main unit showcases a carefully designed structure with noticeable slits, contributing to efficient heat dissipation during operation.
The modern aesthetic is further emphasized by an eye-catching red accent at the front, complemented by golden edges.
The front of the P2000 is adorned with Harmon Cardon speakers, two 25-watt powerhouses that can effortlessly fill a room with impressive audio quality. DTS support and Dolby audio further enhance the audio experience, ensuring a cinematic sound atmosphere. The top of the unit features a touch power-on button, along with an infrared sensor for the remote control, offering convenient and user-friendly operation.
Utilizing ALPD technology, the P2000 incorporates lasers with a remarkable lifespan of 20,000 hours. The projector includes two proximity sensors, providing an eye protection mode that adjusts laser output when detecting proximity to small animals or children.
To maintain optimal performance, the P2000 is actively cooled with strategically placed fans, minimizing heat buildup during operation. The projector’s underside features a large rubber foot at the front, with two adjustable feet at the rear for versatile positioning.
In terms of connectivity, the P2000 offers a range of ports, including HDMI 2.0 with eARC support, three HDMI ports, two USB Type-A ports, 3.5mm audio out, optical out for audio, and LAN support. Given that the projector does not come with built-in Android TV, users can integrate their preferred external devices, such as the Dinal Link Android TV box.
Settings menu
The NOMVDIC P2000 offers a comprehensive and user-friendly menu system that provides easy access to various settings and customization options.
Starting with the input sources, the menu displays the three HDMI ports, with HDMI 1 supporting eARC and local storage. The two USB ports provide access to file management and apps. The file manager apps are specifically designed for remote control convenience. Bluetooth pairing options are also available in this section.
Navigating to the settings menu, users encounter two levels of menus. The first, a basic setup menu, covers essential settings such as network configuration, time, and basic projector arrangements. Notably, it includes manual adjustments like Keystone correction and four-corner adjustments, providing users with the flexibility to fine-tune their setup.
One feature is the manual warping option, allowing users to individually adjust different points for precise image correction. This feature is particularly useful for optimizing the projection quality and correcting any distortions caused by the setup environment.
The menu also includes a range of settings for eye protection mode, test patterns, and advanced options like power source configurations and firmware updates. The use of a retro-style TV test pattern adds a touch of nostalgia to the settings, contributing to a visually appealing interface.
The second settings menu, accessible by pushing the settings button, delves into color management and advanced display settings. Users can choose from different color modes, adjust color temperature, and fine-tune settings under the color management and advanced sections. The color temperature settings are customizable under the user mode, allowing for precise color adjustments.
Within the advanced menu, additional options like aspect ratio, HDR settings, 3D settings, and HDMI configurations provide users with an array of choices for tailoring their viewing experience. The ability to enable a fast input mode during gaming is a thoughtful addition for users looking to optimize their gaming setup.
Video quality
The NOMVDIC P2000 stands out as a pinnacle in video quality, offering an unparalleled cinematic experience. At the heart of its visual prowess is the utilization of advanced technologies, including DMD’s 0.47-inch device that effortlessly displays 4K UHD content. The RGB LED contributes to the projector’s impressive brightness, reaching a remarkable 2500 ANSI lumens. However, the true star of the show is NOMADIC’s triple laser technology, ALPD 4.0, which provides an extraordinary 100% BT.2020 coverage, meeting cinema standards and setting the bar for video quality.
In terms of installation flexibility, the P2000 is engineered as an ultra-short throw projector, showing its capability to project a cinematic 100-inch display from a mere 17 cm distance and an expansive 150-inch display from just 41 cm away.
To assess its capabilities, a test involving an UltraHD Blu-ray player and the movie Top Gun Maverick was conducted, revealing the projector’s impressive performance.
In a dark room, the Movie HDR setting brought out exceptional image quality, especially notable during scenes with significant contrasts between brightness and darkness. The projector managed to maintain intricate details in shadows without compromising on brightness. Outdoors, the P2000 excelled with a high brightness performance of 2500 ANSI lumens, complemented by movie-like 6500K color reproduction. Even film grain retained its sharpness, contributing to a lifelike cinematic experience.
A standout feature is the projector’s ability to reproduce intense red lighting, a testament to its laser light source. The controlled brightness ensures an immersive experience without overwhelming the viewer. Scenes set in dark environments, such as the aircraft cabin, showcased deep blacks, well-lit instruments, and excellent resolution, further emphasizing the projector’s prowess in rendering HDR-era films realistically.
Extending its capabilities to gaming, the P2000 exhibited outstanding performance on the PlayStation 5 with games like Uncharted. HDR performance was vibrant, textures were rich, and latency minimal, making it a suitable choice for console gaming. Even in fast-paced games like Dirt 5, the projector continued to shine, delivering an immersive gaming experience with vibrant colors, smooth motion, and no noticeable issues such as ghosting or blurring.
Sound quality
The NOMVDIC P2000 doesn’t just excel in visual performance; its built-in audio capabilities are equally remarkable, setting a new standard for ultra-short-throw projectors. Equipped with Harmon Kardon-tuned speakers, each boasting 25 watts, the audio quality delivered by these built-in speakers is nothing short of fantastic.
During the playback of the Dark Star takeoff scene in “Top Gun: Maverick,” the audio experience is immersive, with bass that effortlessly fills the room. Remarkably, this is achieved even when the projector is positioned directly below the screen.
An additional testament to the audio prowess of this projector is its handling of “The Sparrow’s Door Shut,” recorded in 5.1ch DTS-HD Master Audio. Despite being a built-in speaker system, the clarity of the audio lines and the sense of realism are excellent. The unit’s compatibility with DTS audio further enhances the overall audio experience, providing a level of detail that eliminates the need for a separate soundbar.
NOMVDIC P2000: Conclusion
The outstanding image quality of the P2000 is a result of its impressive optics, precise focus, deep black levels, and excellent contrast. The projector strikes a balance that some of its competitors may miss, especially in the realm of color reproduction. Reds, in particular, are handled exceptionally well—neither oversaturated nor overpowering, presenting a balanced and visually pleasing image.
One noteworthy aspect is the effective management of fan noise and thermal performance, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience. The built-in speakers, tuned by Harmon Kardon and delivering powerful audio, contribute to the immersive nature of the P2000. The ability of these speakers to fill a room adds to the overall positive impression of the projector.

While the projector boasts numerous strengths, it’s worth noting a minor drawback: the absence of built-in Android TV. However, this is a relatively small concern, especially considering the potential issues with Netflix support on projectors featuring built-in Android TV. A practical solution is suggested in the form of using external devices like an Amazon Fire TV stick or an Android TV box to ensure seamless access to popular streaming apps.
