However, its substantial size and weight are indicative of the remarkable audio experience it delivers.
One standout feature of the BANG MAX speaker is its IPX6 waterproof rating, ensuring it can withstand trips to the beach or pool without any worries, as long as you don’t fully submerge it in water.

It features two 30-watt woofers, two 20-watt mid-tweeters, and two 10-watt tweeters, accompanied by two passive radiators—one on each end of its enclosure. Another handy feature is the ability to set a timer for the speaker to automatically power off, which can be useful to conserve battery life.
The app’s main screen provides essential information and controls. You’ll find a battery level indicator, ensuring you’re aware of the remaining power. A volume slider lets you adjust the speaker’s output to your liking, giving you precise control over the audio. Play/pause, skip forward, and skip back buttons make it easy to manage your music playback.
One of the features of the app is its EQ settings panel. This allows you to fine-tune the speaker’s audio output to match your preferences.

Sound
Once I started listening to this Tronsmart BANG MAX, I found myself leaving the SoundPulse DSP activated most of the time. Sure, SoundPulse adds its own flavor to the music mix, altering it in noticeable ways. However, this alteration resulted in a more engaging and lively listening experience, especially when I was enjoying outdoor activities.
The Tronsmart app offers various EQ options to cater to your preferences. Alongside SoundPulse, you’ll find the Default (flat) EQ, Deep Bass, Rock, Classical, and a Custom setting option. I tinkered with the Custom settings to find the perfect EQ for my taste, but I ended up returning to the SoundPulse option, as it added an extra layer of excitement to the music. However, I did notice that the Deep Bass setting tended to drown out the midrange and treble frequencies, resulting in a muffled playback experience. The Rock and Classical settings, on the other hand, didn’t seem to make a significant difference in the sound quality.
In reality, the choice often comes down to Default and SoundPulse, which is why there’s a dedicated button on the front of the speaker for quick access. Still, the Custom EQ settings can be enticing for those who like to fine-tune their audio to meet their personal standards.
Tronsmart promises that the BANG MAX can reach a whopping 110dB of loudness. While I managed to hit that number on my decibel meter, it’s worth noting that the audio started to distort for me when I pushed the volume beyond about 99dB. Nevertheless, 99dB is more than enough volume for most people and will easily fill a room or outdoor space.
One area where the BANG MAX truly excels in its bass performance. It pumps out an impressive amount of bass, and what’s even more remarkable is how far that bass carries. While this might be a bit too much for listeners who prefer genres like jazz, classical, or acoustic music, it’s an absolute delight for those who revel in the thumping beats of pop, hip-hop, or rock. The tradeoff is clear, but I personally found it to be a thrilling and dynamic addition to the overall listening experience.
Autonomy
In terms of battery life, Tronsmart promises up to 24 hours on a single charge. However, it’s worth noting that this estimate can vary depending on your usage. At around 75dB, you can expect to get more than 20 hours of playtime. The battery level lights on the left end of the control strip will keep you informed about the remaining charge.
Charging the speaker from empty to full takes approximately 5.5 hours with the included 15V power adapter.
